Parts ID Help?

Hello,
I need your help IDing these Indian parts I picked up today. All my background is Harley so I thought ask the folks who ride & love them for some help. If I left out any pertinent details, please let me know. I will post the cylinder photos on a new thread. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Photo 1 & 2: Primary Cover, No Indian script, no numbers embossed on the inside. The bronze screw (center hole) with the knurled knob/nut are rusted tight.

Photos 3 & 4: Heads, numbers on underside are slightly worn but appear to be 831?9-2 (OS), fit cylinders in next set of photos.

Parts books can be had - but to cover the years 30-50 you will need more than 1.....

I would recommend you take a look at these sites - they might be able to help you.

No particular order and I hope I didn't leave out any good websites that may help you. Parts appear to be for Chief, which I think you know since you posted in the chief section. You obviously know what the parts are, so that leaves you really looking for a specific year?

Cylinder pictures will need to see the base and fins around the valves guides to identify - 3.25" is standard bore in case you want to measure. 40 something primary cover. 40 something heads.

Not a parts catalog - but Jerry Hatfields Indian Restoration guide would probably cover the most years in a parts catalogish way with descriptions and unique information.

Nice to see you are interested in the pretty bikes........ Just kidding(kind of).

In my honest opinion Indians are a lot better looking than a hog on any day. I hope this doesn't rile everyone up to much.

I will look over the sites! I looked earlier at Jerry's web site - very informative and well laid out!! I just did not know which year to start searching. I've attached the cylinder photos.

I have a friend who rides a '45 Chief. A beautiful scoot! No offense taken! Each has their own qualities & faults and we love them none the less. Most importantly, we are all keeping them on the road.

I was so thrilled stumbling onto these parts (all while picking up an old H-D Sprint)! I'm just glad I beat the American Pickers to this find!!

I also found two cylinders (2.994" bore) with pistons, wrist pins and connecting rods - a set (assuming a Scout set). I'll post them in that forum for some feedback!

Primary cover: Hatfields restoration guide 2nd ed. Page 143 Circa 1944 reinforced boss around top front bolt - may have been introduced on some 41 or 42 chiefs.

Cylinders, a part number search on yahoo result in a Kiwi Indian parts list showing 40-53 chief.

I am sure heads would follow suit. A look at Jerry Greers site and compare 39 versus 40 and you will see they match the 40 and up.

I was thinking the same thing when replying last night. Is 2.994" standard bore? Don't know much about scouts.

the cylinders above are 1946-1953 "square base" type cyclinders. Heads are 1940-48 Chief (non Bonneville)
