Does anyone know what type of mounting the trumpet style horn on the 55 K models used? I know the diaphraghm mounts to the upper motor mount. From there the trumpet goes out by the carb and towards the front of the bike. I have the J-slotted backplate for my Linkhert, but suspect it is missing a bracket that the trumpet fits into. Does anyone know, or have pictures. It would be great to have a backplate with a bracket, but if not, perhaps I can get a bracket made.

The bracket is a pretty simple U shape riveted to the backing plate. If yours is missing there should be two small holes where it used to be. Do you have the right backing plate? It is not at all like the normal J slot type.

K Model Horn Mounting
I will check the backplate to see if it has the holes for the bracket. Harry Miller suspected it required a bracket on the back to hold the horn in place. Thanks for confirming that. My search for 29020-52 has not been fruitful to this point. If we get down to it and haven't located one, we'll attach a bracket to the one I have. It is the correct backplate, just no bracket.

Notice on the rear of the backing plates at the top of the page that you can see the bracket.
