Harley K Model Headlight Shell

I have two fairly straight Guide HL shells for K models that have cracks in them. When asked what kind of metal they were, I found out that they are brass, not steel. I had already figured that they would need brazing for repairs, now I'm not sure about that. I know silver solder is done at a much lower temp but it's also not as strong.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Are these HL shells similar to what came on the bigger twins?
