  • Kicker Pedal Adhesive

I have an OEM, spindle-type kicker pedal for my 1970 XLCH, as well as a NOS rubber. The rubber is still sealed in the factory plastic bag and still supple.
I worked at a Harley dealership in the early 1970's and I recall that these rubbers used to become loose fairly quickly (within a couple of years) and would routinely spin on the on the pedal/spindle. We used to use Seal-All to adhere them, and I know it's still made. But who knows if it still has the same strength as it did, or if it's been regulated down to a lesser performance. I currently use a ThreeBond adhesive called 'Griplock' for handgrip rubbers with very good luck. However, it sets up as a cured elastomeric so I question it's strength for use on a foot pedal rubber. Can anyone recommend a strong adhesive for this application?
    Thanks..

Since you've thrown it wide open, Bill,...

I've seen interesting vids on the 'net about styrofoam dissolved with gasoline.

      (Cheaper than Gorilla GlueŽ...)

PS: As I tested it a few years back in fuel, I doubt Seal-AllŽ has changed much,

        Bill,

        I use and recommend AquaSeal.

ShoeGoo is another choice... I've used it for many other applications besides old tennis shoes. a little messy, but it dries quickly and sticks firmly to the substrate, waterproof too. C2K

Apparently there are three options. Which to choose is unclear, so I'll have to determine which adheres best to steel and rubber the best, and which is the strongest.
            Thank you all, gentlemen...
