  • Restoration help

Just picked up a 1969 XLCH and am wondering if anyone can steer me towards which restoration guide book would be best. Need to know correct finishes for everything and other general restoration information.
    Thanks

There is no guide book for Sportster....they can be tough. But 1969 was pretty easy in terms of finishes since most parts switched to cad plating by then. This forum is a fantastic resource for old Sportster and K info. Or feel free to email me and ask....I know a thing or two. my327vette@aol.com

It's great you were able to find one capable of restoration, most of those old CHs were beaten severely.

A 1969 parts book will be your best tool. Riders Handbook helps a little. Sales brochures have a few nice color pictures.
Here is my 25,000 mile 1969 XLCH. It won a Junior First but will never earn a Senior because the tank and fenders were repainted. (A mandatory 6 point deduction)

          Chris,
That is an unusual configuration for a CH. It looks more like a 65, too.
