  • KHK Trap Door Help

I'm looking for trap door conical dowel pin and dowel pin studs for my 55 KHK, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I though the trap door didn't start until 57? I took a look in my 52-56 K model parts book and it doesn't even list the door. Even the dowel pin carries a -57 number. I never owned a K model so I'm blind on this. Bob L

Trap door started late '54, but is slightly different than the '57 up Sportster one including the dowel pins. That is why he is asking for the parts he needs...

Rob, OK L54 it is but why is any of this in the parts book? Stuff like this catches my interest. Bob

It is all in my parts books, don't know what you are looking at....
The trapdoor was initially only sold as part of the left case assembly. It is in the crankcases section of the late K books.

Robbie, My parts book covers 52 to 59 and has no mention of it, the attached file (if it uploads properly) is the 1 dowel pin that I have. Thanks, Neal

I need two of these conical dowels for my 54KH which I bought as a basket. These dowels do not show in any of the K books so there is no part number. However, in my 57 to 69 Sportster service manual I found a notation about them in section 4D, titled "Interchangable Access Covers". I have seen pics on ebay for transmissions assembled to the access cover and it shows the tapered dowel. It is on there now, 6/27/16. I would rather not have to buy an entire transmission to get a couple of dowels.

Actually they do, and the number is 24578-54, however it could be a bit tough finding any...

I think thefrenchowl's response to your question last August is correct.
