    Need 1953 K model Speedo

I am looking to buy a speedo which will work for my 53 K model. The other option is to put a different speedo in and have the face redone with the green decal look.

    Any ideas or advice?

Do you have a picture of the sppedometer that you need? I have a couple of early Sportster units but am unfamiliar with what was used on the K. Also, I have a K-Model frame if you need one or if you're interested in a spare. I have to check the date code, but I believe it's a 1953. Please PM me if you're interested.

Here is a pic I found of a 1953 Harley Speedo. I believe the one in the K model looked just like this but with a green background on the faceplate.

That is a big twin speedo and is nothing like a K speedo. K speedos are small diameter much like the lightweights used but have different faces and the later '55-up type have rubber mounts on them. The attached picture is a K speedo off my '55KHK. The speedo face is the "green face" as used on a lightweight, the K face is the same except marked to 120MPH. Early Sportster speedos are similar but again the faces are different.

Do you know anyone selling one or where I can find one? If not we are going to have to "adjust" the hole and put in an aftermarket speedo to make it legal to be on the street.

I have one like the green faced 120MPH, glass is broken, and it seems to work with a drill. PM me with a phone # or email if interested.
