  • SHifter Cams

The early FX's had a reverse-shift pattern (1-up, 3-down). I was wondering if H-D reversed the shifter cam pattern on the later FX's to 'correct' this. I am interested because I want to retain the mid shift setup and use the upright shift arm (34447-74) but also retain the same shift pattern that I've used for the past 44 years (1-down, 3-Up).

The Harley FX parts book (1971 to 1984) shows two (cast) shifter cams, 34006-74 and 34019-73 spanning from '71 to early '79 when the transmission top changed. I'm hoping that the -74 number has a reversed shift pattern, so I'm reaching out to all of you shovelhead afficianados to educate me.

    Thanks...
