Hello. I have some questions on the factory finishes on a ’73 FX and hoping you guys might shed some light on it. I’ve searched older posts to find some of the answers but still hoping for some help on some other finishes:
Rear hub, chrome or painted black?
Were the wheels made in the USA? If not, where?
Were the spokes and nipples cad plated?
Brake calipers: From brochure photos they look black but I have also seen some original looking ‘73s that had gray calipers, which is correct? And, would the finish have been matte or gloss? They look matte but…
Do you know if the decals on the tank were clear coated over?
If yes above, were the fender stripe decals clear coated over as well?
Clutch and points covers, chrome or cad?
Was the gear cover natural or chrome?
Was the outer primary cover natural or chrome?
Were the lifter blocks a matte or gloss silver?
Was the transmission side cover natural or chrome?
Was the rear brake anchor arm cad plated or painted silver? If painted, a matte or gloss finish?
The heads were just a natural unpainted finish, correct?
Would the muffler clamps have been stainless or chrome?
Would a ’73 FX have come from the factory with 2 into 1 exhaust?
I surely appreciate your time and sorry if some of my questions seem simple to you, just trying to make this bike as correct as can be so I don’t want to make wrong assumptions, I had an evil drill sergeant in the 70s that explained to me how bad that can be. Thanks much.
