Shovelhead/Sportster Tank Badges

These shovelhead tank badges have "Fox Co" scratched into the back side. It looks like some drunk guy did in the dark with an awl. A while back I saw the same thing on a pair of badges that some dude was selling on ebay. This can't possibly be authentic - right? 123_1_20201205_181933[3893].jpeg

Wow, bizarre . . . Doesn't seem like something the factory would do.

That was the engraving on the stamping dies and is normal.
