Prestolite starter

Anyone have any tips on installing brushes in the prestolite starter. I’m having a hard time getting the armature in while holding the brushes and springs in. I have tried zip ties and wire to get brushes to stay in any tips or a tool to make this easier.

I have rebuilt many of these starters. The easiest way i found to hold the brushes was wrap very thin wire around them. Make sure you have the brushes in the correct location so you have the correct rotation when finished. If I remember the rotation should be ccw at drive end.
