What would be the correct cad plating on the
Harley Davidson carrier plates for swing arm bubble bag mounts, '60's fiberglass bag mounts, and cad plated star hub covers? I mean, is it bright silver, gray dull, or what? Thanks.

Simply cadmium plating. The finish will vary on piece to piece in any batch you have done. Don't sweat it. The factory didn't.

Thanks Chris, that ios what I thought, though most seem to be a clear. And Rod, what was on the star hub covers. I have seen them that were painted black, of course, but were there any other finishes used? Thanks. Mike

I always thought that star covers were parkerized.

They are, the inner, the outer, the lock washers and the screws.

But I have seen them painted just like the hubs, black. Man, that stuff was put on to stay!

Every star I've seen, is parkerized. Hub painted black and grease nipple cad at least on the later ones.1940 up. I can't say that about the earlier grease fitting. Bob L

The majority of "stars" were a light gray parkerizing.

If all the parkerizing on an H-D machine matches, it should be considered a fault.

Early Knuck's, 45's, and UL's had cad plated star covers.

And had two slots in them for the 45 rear wheel speedo drive!
