iam restoring a 62 flh i want to keep it plane and i like the speedo cover the color of the tank and i like the black rims . Would that be correct for a 62?

Only as long as no other chrome items that were part of the chrome package are used. The front crashbar should be black and the handlebars too, although chrome rubber mounted bars are an extra price option. The standard model was very plain.

Painting the dash tank color is fine as long as your tanks are black.

thanks cdndewey in your catalog do the stock fenders have chrome tips or are they plan ? Also if i paint the bike just hi-fi blue can i still paint the speedo cover the same?

A chrome rear fender tip came as part of the "King of the Highway Group #F-5" or you could buy the Chrome Rear Fender Tip by itself for $4.95 in the Dealers' Confidential Price List but no mention of a front tip. The front tip is available in the Accessory Catalog for $4.50. As for the instrument panel cover it would match the bike unless ordered with a chrome group.

A really great book for anybody dealing with a H-D up to 1969 is "The Legend Begins". It can be ordered through your local H-D dealer or directly from the Service Department at the company HQ in Milwaukee. All the available information they could find is in it, although sometimes contradictory. Like in their description of the 1937 models that state two colors available Bronze Brown, Teak Red, which was true at the time of introduction. But they show you a later Order Blank where the third 1937 color of Delphine Blue was added. Still it is the best source of factory information that I know of.
