Ok since all of you guys have been helpful and quick with the answers i figure ill try again , i have a 7'' J slot air cleaner cover , that appears to be stainless with the bar and sheild embossed in the center , and the instructions are stamped right on the top , there is no riveted on instruction plate, there is no mention of this style in the palmers book is why i ask what this is .

I believe that is for a 55 pan maybe a few other years but i'm not sure -
They were sold as parts counter replacements through the 60's. Basically the same cover as the screw on one, only without the hole and dimple for the screw. Might have been on 55 production but I don't know.Brian Howard AMCA#5866Comment
