Hi. I'm new to this forum, I'm in the process of rebuilding and restoring a 52 pan, someone hacked up the frame and streched the neck out to about 45 deg. and changed it to a straight leg and cut off the sidecar loops. I was wandering if anyone out there knows where I can find prints or drawings to restore the frame back to the original wishbone, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Whitey

Chris is right-- and it would also be cheaper to buy one of Steve Little's excellent replica frames (he is a member here). The work you are talking about with your frame is substantial--- replace the steering head, front down tubes and sidecar loops--- and keep it all in alignment! It can be done, but it would be expensive. If you are adamant about restoring your original frame, I know a man who's been doing it for decades--- but good work isn't cheap, and cheap work isn't good. I also know of two so-called frame shops to avoid like the plague! PM me if you want more info...

Thanks for the info. The problem is, not realizing the work involved I had already bought a new neck casting, I do have the resources to do the restore I just need the dimensions, I did find a set of prints on this site a while back but I can't seem to locate them now, I'll try to post a picture of the image I found and saved, I was also wandering how much differance there is in a re-pro V-twin frame and a Race-frame Chris mentioned, beings the price is substantially higher. If things don't work out I,ll PM you (Rooster) for the frame shop info. Thanks Whitey p.s. I'm over on the East coast

The early V Twin frames had a good reputation, but since they sent the work over seas I hear of problems with them.
I had a good friend that bought one and sent it back because it was garbage.

The Race Frame frames are twice the price and 15 times the quality of the V-Twin frames. V-Twin frames don't have any of the correct casting numbers or logos on them. Good for a custom, but no good for a restoration.

I got one of the VT straight leg replicas and the neck angle was less than 30 degrees.

That blue print has been floating around on the net for a while now. The only problem is by the time you blow it up you can't read it.

You can get a full size copy of that print from MidWest or Nempco. The copies aren't much easier to read than the blow-up though. Good luck, that's a tough job. You should make the frame as true as possible prior to cutting it apart.

When you cut the frame to remove the neck and down tubes it is going to spring and twist out of shape. Before you cut it buy a chunk of steel at least 2 inches thick and wide enough to reach both front and rear motor mounts. Mill material off one end so you wind up with the same shape as the motor mounts on your cases. Drill the motor mount holes in it and bolt it securely in place. This will help hold your frame in shape while you are removing and replacing the neck.

Chris , thanks for that idea, but just last week I took all my heavy scrap to scrap yard,so I made up a bracket out of an 8" beam, I'm taking it over to have it milled this afternoon, I,ll post some pics. Brian, I also looked up those 2 sites MidWest and Nempco but I couldn,t find the print, I,m probably looking in the wrong place, if you could steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated, I,m not very computer literate. Whitey, I have a very large digital copy of that blueprint; I took the digital file to OfficeMax, or someplace like that, and they printed it out for me on a 24"x36" sheet. Like Bob says, when it's blown up, the quality of many of the numbers are no better to read--- still blurry and hard to decipher. But some are legible, so could be a little help. If you'd like a digital copy, send me a PM with your email address, and I'll email you a copy. If you have dialup, this may take awhile. I can also burn it to a CD and mail it to you if you like.
