metal burs in the head intake runner

I was in the process of tracking down an intake leak and saw this in my rear head. Any idea what could cause this and what needs to be done to repair it?

It looks as if someone has ported the head and removed a bit too much material.

I agree with Chris, someone been doin some port work. Or learning to do it. Looks like they got the floor hogged out really good, that'll actually cause less flow and spoil the homogenization of the fuel/air mix. remove anything that appears that it may come undone of it's own accord and rebuild the port with a high quality epoxy. My head porting guy uses a 3M epoxy for this purpose (most shovel and pan ports are too large and the wrong shape for truly good flow from an all out performance standpoint from the get go). Try to get it back as close to the shape of an unaltered port as you can and finish with about an 80 grit sand to keep fuel from pooling on the port floors.

Some original factory ported FLH heads are like that as well. Not necessarily some outside builder. I have seen several sets of factory heads over the years that had never been rebuilt and when removed there was a chunk missing under that edge of the seat that had broken out.
