  • Spark Control and Throttle Parts Questions

There is a bracket on the downtube of my frame (49EL) for the spark control clamp. Does anyone have the part number for the clamp? I checked the frame/handlebar/ and wiring section of both spare parts books and cannot seem to find it.

Also anyone have a source for the carb control bracket and clamp. Mine is pretty beat to hell (Pic attached)

Panz, the bracket in your photo is HD #56605-49, "carburetor control coil bracket". The top motor mount bolt goes through the hole, and it sandwiches in there with the top motor mount. I think you're looking for HD #9957, "Spark control coil clip". See page 86 in the 1949-57 Spare Parts Catalog.

I may have a spare bracket as shown in your photo-- remind to take a look in my stash!

I believe that Colony Machine reproduces them. www.colonymachine.com

I don't think he missed it. He told the guy where the bracket belongs. It doesn't belong on the downtube.

Chris, I checked my Colony catalog, they only reproduce 1938-48 spark cable brackets. Is there a difference in 1949?

Sorry for the brain fart. It is Tedd who has them.H-D part number 56605-49 1949-1953 OHV. Tedd's part numbers 31-0537 and 31-0787. I don't know why there are two part numbers for the same part. Tedd's catalogue does that a lot.

Chris I understand that the pic is not intended for the down tube. It was actually two inquires. Guess I muddled it though after looking at my post. One was the part # for the spark control clamp that goes on the down tube (which I do not have and need) Tom posted the part number. And another was for a replacement for the throttle bracket and clamp ( had already located part number in my parts book but could not find a source for). So with the info I will check nosparts and then revert to Tedds.

                Thanks all for the help

Just give Clete at Old Dude a call. He has every thing you need and the knowledge to go along with it. Keep in mind that the screw is cad and the lock washer park. Bob L
