what seat pan?

I got this with some other parts. I am more familiar with the later pans, so I don't know what this is. Looks like leather. There is an "august" yellow stencil on it, as usual. It fits Harley standard software. Just wondering.

The picture didn't come through but the seats I have had with a yellow stamp on the pan usually had a year with the month. The ones I have seen are from the 70's.

Oh well. I posted the pics over on the CAI website. Very easy to do, as always over thwer, and the other forums I am on. Photobucket seems to have a lot of ads that kept popping up. Maybe I will get it figured out someday.

The original seat shown has since been restored by Chuck and Joe Leipham (The Saddle Shop). They advertise in the club mag. They did an awesome job. If you have a vinyl buddy seat and are looking for someone who has the right vinyl colors, in the right weight fabric, the gold piping and overall density figured out these are the folks. They know how to get the skirt exactly right too. Had a long wait but it was well worth it. IMHO Great folks to deal with too.

I assumed all the 65 seats were vinyl, with the rubber edging clipped to the seat. Paquette responded to my querry over on the Classic American Iron site. I posted it under the "try posting here" thread, titled seat pic and question. Your picture made it clear to me. Mine is just like that. Must be getting old, though, i looked though my buddy seats and found one just like it that I redid years ago, and forgot I had. With the original flapper. Beautiful seat. The leather was riveted to the pan, and the vinyl was sewn to that. Mike

In my experience/factory photos the '65 seats are not clipped but sewn. I think that black rubber around the bottom edge started in 66 or 67, I'd have to check. These examples would/should prove that they were not clipped as you say. Yes these are vinyl. Both of these seats (and the restoration work) is done as you say, leather strip riveted around the edge then vinyls sewed to that. Lot's of experts here that have forgotten more than I know, they will keep me honest for sure

Hey Chris - Each url points to a series of 15 or so photos, so better to click on that url and view them than stringing out all of the photos into the thread/post IMHO. If I'm posting just 1 or 2 photos I would post the inline photo using the method you mention.
