  • 1965 Horn

Does anyone know the Delco cross reference for the 12V horn introduced actually in 1964 on the Servicar and then on the 65 FLH? I think the only difference in the 1965 (based on Palmer's book) is a screw hole on the '65 version that was intended for an accessory cover.

I know they are Delco 9000 series, but not the last 3 digits or if they were High or Low note. I have a HD later version replacement and would like to pick up an original. I know the HD PN, but as long as you have the bracket, pretty sure you can use one that was used on cars during the same era.

If you have an original horn from a '65, I beleive the 9000nnn number was cast into the horn as well as na H, or an L as well.

The best I can provide. Horn is stamped Delco Remy.

On underside on on the corner is the 900. Next to it looks to be an imprint of 5I3. On the opposite corner of the horn looks to be an imprint of 2A2

Thanks for checking! 2A2 is the date code I believe and 513 makes it a Delco #9000513 (Lo Note). What bike is your horn on? Just curious because the first digit of the date code is usually the last digit of the year of manufacture.

65 pan. Think it was on the bike when I bought it in 1970. Though at some point I recall having had to replace it

Yeah, Delco was making the 9000's for a good while. Could be a 1962 or even 1972 as far as I know. I have a copy of a Delco install guide for 9000513 and 514 that's dated 1963. These same horns were used on the Shovels for a good while too.
