  • 48 Neck!

Guys I came across this on Fleese-Bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT. Every 48 neck I’ve ever seen had the damper pin boss on the casting. My 48 has a 7500 number and the boss is there. It’s not drilled but it’s there. Was there any 48 without the boss? Nothing for nothing, I stared at this pic for twenty minutes and it sure looks like the speedo mount is welded on. I posted to pictures below. The first is of the e-bay thing. The other was from some guy in California that now driving around in a big white truck. If this is junk. Then the high bidder is sure going to be pissed. Why not just buy the one from Assi Steve. To me it looks like the dash mount has been reattached - that would explain it. Jerry

I'm with you Rob - I thought the '48s all had the unmachined dampener in the casting. My '48 has a cobbled speedo/tank mount so I found this item on eBay a little while ago. I figured $75 was worth the gamble and it even has the stamps in it. I had a 45" frame repaired a while back and the guy had to grind a repop mount and then build it up with braze. I'm hoping this setup is a little easier.
