    three light dash

Was wondering also, if anyone knew where a person can find a dash with the cloth coated wires and the correct light bulb housing for the neutral, gen, and oil. I seen one in JP cycles but it includes all of the wiring for the top side. I have already replaced that. The one I have in there now are plastic wires, would like to get original back or close as I can anyway.

I restore original Harley two and three light dash bases. I can restore yours or sell you one outright. PM me for further details ... Perry

perry i apologize to sknappy if this is hijacking a thread but i felt like this is the best place for this question. the 59 dash i have has a neutral light in the corner where is should be. the style on lens on it is like a jewel cut. i also have a three light cover with the same jewel cut style lenses in it. on the underside of the cover the lens has a short tube like sticking down and it is crimped in two places. i also have a three light cove with flat non jewel type lenses and four little tabs bent over to hold them in place. which one is original h-d? thanks in advance

All I have left is just the plate and the wiring studs to make connections. Is that enough to rebuild?

I don't think Harley ever used facetted jewels on the three light cover. If you look in Palmer's at the picture on page 447 even the prototype 62 cover has the flat style lenses. I've seen several of both the red and green lenses NOS in the package and they've always been the flat style (see attached).

I know the three light dash cover you're talking about with all three lenses being facetted. Certainly the lenses look identical to the one Harley used for neutral on the 59-61 dash (see attached), but I think (my opinion, no proof) the cover is an early aftermarket piece and they just happened to source the jewels from the same supplier as Harley had used. Other reasons I think the cover is aftermarket is there are no GEN OIL stampings in it, the stamping around the the speedo opening is shaped slightly differently than stock and there is no hole for the police handlock reset (at least the ones I've seen) ... That's perfect! Anything remaining of an old socket is removed before pressing in a new one so a bare base is fine ... Perry
