Toe down is engaged and heel back is disengaged. Is that what you're asking?

How about just adjusting the linkage?

The pedal goes down to the footboard and damages the rubber. The likage is correct and engage/disangage is also correct. Before I had a rubber on the pedal, now it is without. Goes the pedal as fare as the spring pulls?

Is the push rod adjustment at the center of the clutch hub set correctly? That would affect the position of the release lever and thereby the foot pedal.

              Pandit,
Your footboard stud is not correct. I am not sure on your '61 but on mine the front of the footlever has a short ear on it that hits the footboard mounting stud before the pedal hits the footboard.

yup the one you have is a right front duoglide with a couple of spacers. i can't get a pic to you right now but he is correct---the metal part of the pedal contacts the stud before the lever touches the pad
