  • Springer bearing set up?

Good day lads! After dicking around with this item for a week trying to save some face. Uncle! It’s been twenty-five years since I ripped a Springer apart. This is a 48 offset. Look at the picture. Do I have this right? I know now that the upper head cone is missing the pressed on dust shield. I have a bearing race upper and lower. I told Bart at old dude what I needed and these where the races sent. I guess my main question here is it proper for the Springer top tubes to be a quarter of an inch below the top of the handle bars. Forget about that exploded view in the parts book. Talk about useless. And the final question. Is the cone clamp nut 48561-36 cad or park. I’ve seen it both ways. Thanks, Bob L

it looks just like my 47 offset but what was so hard to get together? mine is together just like the exploded view. what i did run into once though was the aftermarket lower race was not machined for the inner cone and i had to get a replacement

As you can see both the cone nut and handlebar cinch bolts are Parkerized. The cone nut is also painted black.

Bob, It's been a long time since I've had one apart, those are ball bearings right?
