  • Buddy Seat & Auxiliary Springs

I am trying to put my buddy seat on to ride up to the Harley Museum tomorrow, But! My '57 Hydra Glide is a Police model. It looks like the auxiliary springs will interfere with the police oil tank on the right side. I haven't had the buddy seat on this bike in almost 30 years so I'm struggling with the setup. Anyone know if it will work? My wife would like to ride with tomorrow. Thanks Kurly

Don"t know that I have ever seen a Buddy Seat on a police model. You may be able to use the long style spring to frame bracket stud that was stock on dual exhaust models. It holds the spring out a couple inches. It is meant for the left side but would work on the right. I am not sure if that gives you enough room though.

you might have to use the wider bail for dual exhaust also

A common cure that doesn't involve the axuiliary spring assembly is a strong valve spring that fits over the seat post.
