  • 53 OHV Front fender emblems

Does anyone know why some OHV front Fender emblems are mounted on the front and some on the rear of the front fender.I've seen unrestored bikes that have it mounted both ways. Thanks Tom

I assume you are asking about the OHV deluxe emblems. If they were factory mounted with a Deluxe accessory package they were mounted on the front above the side trim. If they were purchased by the owner as an over the counter item they could be mounted anywhere, fenders bags, etc.

Is it possble that civil service type bikes had dulexe OHV emblem put on rear side of front fender from the factory.I have an unrestored Highway Patrol 53 Hydra-Glide that is like that and I have seen several other original bikes the same way.If so what was the reason?Would it have anything to do with a possible pedestrain slicer or siren??Thanks Tom

Here is how they came from the factory. But they were also sold as an accessory to owners who could put them wherever they want.

My original fender for my '53 FL came without the emblems, but the mounting holes are exactly where Chris' picture showed the emblem.
