Is the Palmers book wrong on this particular point? On pg. 492 it states "In 1965 the long Y pipe and the S pipe were combined into one unit."

Is that the only wrong thing you have found in Bruce's book?

The parts book I have lists the one piece for '65 to 68. One for the single, and another for the duals. I will try to get up in the attic above the garage tomorrow to check on that pipe, Scoot. Had to go look for a job today, and forgot about it until now.

I just looked at another factory photo. It shows two piece "S" & "Y" pipe. I guess photos can be decieving.

I found that pipe. It is chrome, NOS. Looks to be perfect. No notch for the side car. This isn't supposed to be a place to sell parts, so email me. portagemichael@aol.com.

I also am under the impression that the single connector pipe started in 65.I have that pipe on my 59 that I'm building,being the exhaust was complete except for the tee pipe I'm staying with it .The otherday I lined stuff up to be sure its all going to fit my 59 frame and it seems ok ,
BTW the tee pipe from NOSPARTS came with a ridge on the inside of the lip and out of round ,I had to use my dremmel and vise to get it to fit.I e,maild them ,mentioning that in 10 seconds they could check the fit before shipping ,but who knows...If ordering from them you might want to request they check the fit.

Thanks for the warning ! I have the original OEM sqash pipes fo my '53 pan and '47 Knuckle. I also have an original OEM muffler for the knuckle and original OEM front header pipe for the panhead. I've been looking for the remaining exhaust parts for both bikes for quite some time. In absence of my finding good used or original OEM parts (always my preference), can you recommmend a GOOD aftermarket supplier for a temporary fix ??

Panhead exaust pipes

Well, another dead-end thread. Are there no re-pop panhead exaust pipes that fit and look correct? There have been several threads about re-pop pipes over the years, and several guys will make recomendations, and others will chime in saying they are crap. There never seems to be a consensus on any that will work for sure. Gonna be replacing my heads soon with a newly reworked pair and I would like to replace my existing (crappy) re-pop pipes when I have it apart. I'd like to use OEM stuff, but I haven't found any worth dragging home. I need the early painted pipes, anyone have first hand experiance with something that works?

"Repro" pipes

These Corso pipes look like the same ones that Tedd and JP sell, is that right? If the only thing available is gonna take a bunch of re-work, I'll just buck-up and get to it. I just don't want to find out later that I could have bought the right stuff somewhere else.

They are the same pipes Tedd sells. Go to your local shop and have them order pipes from Dixie for you. Although they are made offshore the fit is better.

Thanks for the replies. Came across a guy that has some older Superior pipes, are they any good, or should I stick with the Dixie parts?
