  • Fuel shut-off aligning

My 59 pan tanks don't have any of the shut-off parts left in them ,but my spare 61 tanks do.I'm wondering about taking everything out of the 61 and switching it into the 59 tank. Both tanks are in good condition, will I have any problem doing this ? The manual talks about using an aligning tool if the tanks have been repaired ,mine havn't .Do I just undo everything and switch it over ,or is there something I should know before trying?

I thought that once too after reading first.

You'll be ok to do it yourself and the parts come out the bottom and go back the same way, it'll test your eyes and nerves alittle lining up the rod with the top of the tank prolly as there isn't much to get in before screwing the bottom on. New copper washers and rubber up top and tighten the base well. Merlin in Pa.

You can buy an alignment tool from V-Twin. Or just ask your local aftermarket shops if they have one.

Thanks for the info ,I know about the alignment tool ,thats what I was worried about ,the thing would cost over $200.00 Canadian by the time it got here. I see jp cycles have them.
I'm going to go ahead with out it ,I don't get stressed out working on my bike ,quite the oposite.
        Thanks,Neil
