I have run the J grind in several stock 74 inch pans with good results. Won't turn your bike into a racer, but it will start easily and run strong. I advise against using the stock hydraulic pushrods if your motor still has them.

What the heck is wrong with hydraulics? They have worked fine for over 50 years. I am just spending some major bucks to go back to them in my '65.

Nothing wrong with hydraulic lifters if the Cam profile is compatible with them. Some aftermarket cams have opening and closing profiles that work best with solid lifters. Remember, this thread was about J grind cams, not hydraulics!

I think he may be talking about the early hydraulic 'Pushrods'. Hydraulics work great in a Pan and the "J" cam is designed for them.

Good point Indianut since he did say it was for a '50. Those pushrods never really worked!
