    repop primary

    i put one on a customers bike this year everything lined up well. But all of the threads of the inner primary are chromed i advise you to run a tap through all on the holes before you mount anything.

      You can get the covers painted black too. Buy them direct from the USA manufacturer at;

          Yes Chris, but they don't sell a correct one for 50 to 54 with the inspection cover screw holes at 12 and 6 o'clock. I believe they and most all other repops make them only at 3 & 9.

            So buy a painted cover. Remove the spot welds and rotate the holes to 12&6. It ain't rocket science. ;-)

              Yea I know it ain't rocket scienc, but a lot of home DIY restorers don't have that ability or the desire after paying for a new part.

                Then take it to somebody who does have the ability. Paughco will sell you new covers that are still bare metel if you wish. I have talked to them about making covers available with the 12/6 holes. They say the change in setup would be $ prohibitive.

                  Chris there is only one problem with this. Will Porko's crap fit? We found that thier inner tins were off by 3/16" in depth to much in the front. Had many problems with sprokets and clutch drums rubbing. Had to end up banging them out to fit. Then again I dont thing there was any thing I bought from that gang of arigant losers that ever fit and I'm willing to bet there are plenty of people here that would back up my claim. The last after market one I bought came out of Drag and fit like glove (not like OJ's). Bob

                    Ron Paugh has been a friend of mine for close to forty years. His father was the founder of Paughco. they did all kinds of metal stamping. In the late '60's Ron started making tooling in his dads shop to make 1936-1953 inner primary covers. It took years to get it done. Since then he has made many fine parts that allow people to restore or cutomize their machines. I don't appreciate your un-necessary slur of his family name.

                      Chris let me get your statement straight! I know you like blowing your horn but your statement is just plain wrong. These people blatantly sold bogus products that were not checked for proper fitment. So they made a few peanut tanks over the year. In the eighties these clowns were the bottom of the heap. I remember the first thing I bought from them in 1979. It was braded brake lines for my 60 pan. They were no were close to fitting. There answer. It’s your problem. In the shop we would do anything to avoid having a customer by from them. I remember the best. They wanted to beat everybody to the punch on aftermarket fat bob tanks. In 1984 they beat’em all right. You don’t know what schitt is until you saw a set of these. To save money they made the inside panel flat unlike the original. Those pieces of junk couldn’t fit any frame. Chris I could go on for another two pages. I don’t give a rat’s ass whether you and that clown were butt pinching buddies back in kindygarden. Pork’o was always a bunch of lying, thieving scum. I encourage anyone who got burned by this crew to join on in on this post. Bob

                          I sold and used lots of Paughco manufactured parts out of my shop in the eighties and nineties. I had some problems, but Ron and Art were always very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The allowed me to bill them for my shop time to make repairs as needed and gave me credit towards my next purchase. What more could you ask for? They made and sold huge quantities of high quality parts.

                            Robert,
                            Not everything in the Paughco catalogue is made by them. I know another company was making those lines and was selling them to Paughco and many other vendors. They buy parts and put them in their catalogue the same as V-Twin, Custom Chrome, Drag Specialties or anybody else. I bought braded lines from Custom Chrome and they didn't fit right either.
                            The only part I ever had a problem with was their first batch of 1954-1964 inner primary covers. They had used the same mounting bracket as the earlier cover and it didn't line up with the oil tank. That problem has been corrected. Personally I have never used any of their custom parts so I can't talk about those.
                            Still there is no reason for sluring a persons name.
