  • Correct Deluxe Group Fender Emblem?

Can anyone advise the correct fender emblem for a 48 Pan with the deluxe solo group? I have seen two versions of the emblem, "Deluxe" and "Deluxe over top of OHV". From what I can tell the later fits 52 and later models.
    Thanks, William Edwards, AMCA #10035

Believe it or not the Deluxe emblems were an accessory and not part of the Deluxe Group in 1948.

Thank you Chris. The bike I have has the Deluxe w/ OHV emblems. Do you know if points are deducted when these accessoires on installed? I'm new in the points arena and my 1st Pan. ride safe, William

They are an accessory. Accessories are not judged. Here is what the judging handbook says.
        4. Accessories, including sidecar, do not add or
subtract unless they detract from the appearance
of the machine as it represents the year
        and model.
The Deluxe badge has a 1947 part number while the Deluxe OHV is 1952. A restored 1948 shouldn't have a 1952 part on it. If it is unrestored that is another story.

Chris, this is a very interesting photo you posted. The frame has the steering damper pin as used for a '49 HydraGlide fork but the cylinders are painted black which I thought, indicated an early '48 pan. I guess nothing was carved in stone.

You missed the oddball horn mounts on the downtubes. This is a prototype 1948.
