Hello fellow enthusiast, about paint, I will begin the restoring process on my pan soon. I have completed two sportsters 1973 XL1000 paint "White Pearl" 1974 XL1000 "Turquoise" I have enter these bike in two different shows. One bike per show, each bike got second place. Ok back to the pan. I would like a resource or information for Phila PA. Police colors for 1957 Police bikes. The unique features that lead me towards the police version are. Rear fender notch for siren, fan cooled generator, Delco style regulator, reset button to zero the needle on speedometer. I would also like information for the restoration on the speedometer.
Who I can send it to for a complete rebuild.

I have several H-D's and and in the process of bringing them all to factory specs.

John Bordas in Colorado is the man for the Speedometer restore. j.bordas@att.net

I am sure you can contact the police dept that you want your bike to be from and find photos of bikes from the period you want. H-D's standard police colors were Black and White or Police Silver but lots of departments ordered custom colors.

John Pierce at freewebs.com has a site that lists many optional and standard colors, including some Police Dept. colors. John Bordas has done several speedometers for me with great results.

'57 Police Bike

My '57 74 police also has the rectangle oil tank w/ room for the larger battery. I've never seen the larger battery. My Racine WI sheriff bike was and still is silver. I have the rear radio rack, but no radio.
