    1962 panhead wheels

I keep reading different information. I read 58-62 wheels are the same then I read 62-66 are the same. I read 62 has a Kelsey Hayes then I see it says it has a French & Hecht safety bead rim. Can you guys steer me in the right direction so I can get the correct wheels? At one time mine was changed to aftermarket.

62 was the first year for safety rims. I believe Kelsey Hayes made them also until they went to Italian ones probably in the early 80s.

IIRC the rims you're after were used 62-67, the part number ends in -40A. Once again, IIRC, the rim is stamped something like 43007-62 on the inside surface near the stem hole. I'm not sure if the rims changed again in 69 when 5:10-16 tires were introduced. If you had the correct rim sitting on the ground, and poured water on the side of the rim, some water would be trapped by the lip on the rim, and not all run off like on earlier rims.
