Can I use 1955 Panhead cylinders on 1952 cases without modifications

Well, I bit the bullet and am building my first OHV since 1996. I’ve been on flatheads ever since. I picked up a set of 52 cases with the intention of building a nice solid chopper. I would like to use mostly OEM parts. With that being said, will post 52 cylinders work without any case modifications (minus the outside oiler cylinders)? I am stuck having to find a good set of early ones or can some mid 1950s one work without mod? I’ve done some searches and haven’t found a definitive answer.

V Twin actually has nice reproduction cylinders. I am using them on my current build.

Thanks for the reply. I’m pretty set on using OEM ones for now. Any idea on my question above? I’ve got a good line on some 20 over mid late 50s cylinders and want to know what is involved in using them before I buy. Thanks

Nothing is involved, bolt them on and run them. They should have the drain holes going into the bore, just use base gaskets that close off the channel in your 52 cases. It will help piston life. All the factory bore draining cylinders are 74 length, however there can be some 61 cylinders around that were drilled for bore drain. Make sure they are 74 before buying.
