    1959 FL Duo Glide Value

I have a 1959 FL Duo Glide Panhead that I have owned since 1978. It is in good running condition and in good shape as well. I have done some upgrades to it over the years. Upgrades include 12 volt conversion, Upgraded Hydra Glide fork dampeners and electronic ignition. I also did a cam upgrade to a J grind Andrews cam as well as a Anti gravity battery upgrade. The bike still looks stock and gets many compliments. It is a pleasure to ride and the bike is still registered. The question i have is all of the belly numbers are gone off the motor and the left side Vin number pad is compromised. I had to jump thru some hoops to get it registered in 1978. It now has new numbers assigned to it on a sticker that is on the bike. I was a young man with little knowledge or guidance when I purchased the bike in 1978. Oh well. Does the bike still have value? I am now 67 and a whole lot wiser LOL. Just looking to get some answers. Thank you.

    Vintage Stanley,

With the numbers being absent and/or altered, yes it reduces the value when compared to one with all the proper numbers.

To answer your question of wether it has value, sure it does.

Basically at this point the value is the amount you could get for all of it parted out. Anyone interested in an original bike will pass on it if they have done any homework at all. The original VIN is the most valuable part of it, without it it becomes just a pile of parts.

Yes the bike has value! Why not do what someone else will do? Remove engine for a freshen up and address the noted issues? Stamp set with proper fonts are available......just sayin

From where? Not saying that they don't exist. Only saying that I've seen a lot of swap-meet sets that are offered as being exact factory stamps/proper fonts. So far... no cigars.
