  • 1957 panhead case's

G day everyone, I have a question on the inner diameter of the crankcase for my panhead which has had a huge welding job on the broken areas , I have just found out the flywheel assembly is tight to the case's. Does anyone have any idea of the inner dimensions for clearing the flywheels please Rob

Are you referring to the (assembled case) width between the shoulders of the main bearing housings, Rob? If so I had that problem on a Panhead bottom end.

Yes , exeric I have been slowly finding area's that are touching, mainly left-hand case around the scraper area .have managed to get it to fit the fly wheel assembly with one bearing pressed on , but finding the case rocks side to side , it's sitting flat on the case race area ?? I only know indian not so much Harley..I did die grind area's near the welds making sure to minimise the oil scraper area, I have managed to maintain around 6" between the case and flywheels. Not sure if there's a sized gap I need or not. Painful
