  • 1948 cam cover information

Pan cam cover.jpg Anybody have any reliable thoughts on when this can cover was used in 1948? Very early 1948 used a knucklehead type cover with the oil feed hole plugged with a slotted pipe plug. Later 1948 had no hole at all. This cover was in the middle. Thanks

    Jerry,

These aren't reliable thoughts, just some potential evidence. These pics are from a late 48 (48FL123xx). The holes do not appear to be plugged, but they also don't appear to be cast this way. I am not sure how the hole is supposed to be so I probably have not been much help..

JG That hole is a left over from the knucklehead. That is where knuckleheads feed the heads from. Your cover is typical of late 1948.
