  • 1964 FLH Police Special

    Hello fellow members!

I am looking for information on the 64 police bikes:
Does anyone has any pics or schematics of the bikes coming off the assembly line?
What kind of police equipment was fitted on the bikes? Lights radio siren etc
    Which parts were painted black
Which parts were polished and chrome?

    thanks a lot

Without a specific order sheet from a Police department most of your questions cannot be answered due to the fact there were many options available and all bikes did not come with the same equipment. Such as a wealthy department ordering bikes with chrome packages and all radio equipped where a small department may order the most basic unit with no radios or expensive accessories. There is not a standard specification. Here are a couple sample sheets for the '61 model year. I have this for '64 as well but have not scanned any of it. 1961 FL specs 3.jpg 1961 FL specs 5.jpg

DSCN6181.JPG DSCN6179.JPG Some official CHP photos of a bunch of bikes at the CHP Sacramento motorcycle training school, looks like one is from the 60's I put the other two on just for your entertainment. Sorry about the glare but it's a picture framed in glass. DSCN6180.JPG

        Thank you so much Rubone!
        Very interesting!
Is there any information on what was included with the Chrome group?
Was there anything one year (64) only? Example the siren?
Also any chance you could scan the 64 order sheet please?
        Thanks a lot

I think the electric radio aerial (or is it the blue light riser?) is one year only for '64 as it will be 12 volts in '65.

                            Speeding Big Twin

So if a police bike bike was ordered without a chrome group, it would come with black out parts, where Chrome is mentioned on the order sheet, correct?

Reason for the questions, is to see if i should correct this 64 (chrome or black out). Obviously individual parts could had been purchased as chrome along the way, right?
                              Please see pictures
                              Thanks
