I have two Tombstone Tail Light related questions.
Wiring:
While wiring the tail light on a 48FL I saw something in the parts manual that got me curious. Did the Motor Company add butt connectors at the tail light end sometime in 1947?
In the 41-54 Spare Parts manual on page 167 & 168 they list part 70549-47 - "Tail light wire butt connector" used on 47-54 Big Twins.
If they did add butt connectors in 47, where did they place them to facilitate removal of the tail lamp assembly without pulling the wiring completely out of the fender or desoldering the terminals inside the bulb socket?
License Plate Bracket:
I did search the forum and found this post but it is inconclusive so hoping more knowledge has been gathered since.

I'm trying to double verify which tail light body / license plate bracket combo is correct for a late 48 (VIN: 48FL124XX). I was about to rivet the bracket on but paused to be sure.
After reviewing Palmer's book, I am not 100% clear (3rd Ed pg 696-697). Based on what I read, H-D switched to the 49-54 style body + riveted license plate bracket combo in mid-48, is this correct?
My original body has the license plate bracket (with "Guide R-H5" on the bracket) holes 27/32" apart. The 47 to mid-48 body / bracket combo holes were 1 3/32" apart with countersunk bracket holes to accept screws). I then assume the bracket for 27/32” holes are always riveted on, correct?
Thanks in advance.
