  • Outside oiler heads

I have a set of cylinder heads that are outside oil line heads. My question is can I use these heads on a 1959 FL motor. And if I can use them what do I do just plug the oil holes

Those style heads do not have a hole drilled to feed the rockers with oil from the internal cylinder feed hole. You can drill a hole to intersect with the external feed hole duplicating the start of the hole with pre '63 style heads. You can also do what I did, ran outside oiler heads on my '62 for 15 years, I made a fitting (you could also alter the cap) to screw into the tappet screen area and fed the heads oil from there making a custom dual feed line. Worked just fine, just make the feed line the same diameter as stock on '63-'65, (1/8?). I tried 1/4" tubing and it put too much oil in the top end, couldn't drain fast enough.
