  • clutch chatter

put new kevlar clutch plates in my 57 pan, soaked in tranny fluid as per manf. specs, installed springs as per specs, adjusted clutch, all set up and ready to go, took off and got heavy clutch chatter, after things get hot about 15 min. the chatter would fade away, any ideas.....thanks chris

A loose friction disc on the clutch hub?

Are you sure it is the clutch and not a loose motor sproket.

Chris- Was there a chatter before you replaced the clutches?
Is the clutch working properly for you?
When the bike warms up, do you have a problem finding neutral? Have you had the clutch hub removed?
As others have queried, can you provide us more info?
It may just be a break-in thing. When I replaced my clutchs last season on my 56 they chattered for about 100 miles then quieted down. Keep us posted. -Steve
