Do all the Panheads have the year stamped or cast on them? And where is it?

  • #2
Hi_ That so easy for us Hawg nuts its funny, the first two digit on a panhead is the year. 54FL is 1954, 68FLH is 1968 etc. Later models,(currebt system) its further down the seriel number designated by a number preseeding the letter "y" such as 1Y is a 2001 and a 3y is a 2003 followed by the actuel seriel number 60XXXX. So that a number with the tenth digit being say 2Y60XXXX is a 2002 model year. All the preseeding numbers indicate the place of manufacter (York Pa), and other info like Classic or ulra etc.....Jor.

I believe he is asking the numbers on the HEADS, not the cases.

I just learned that '48s have no casting 'tag', but '49s do.
