Rigid Frame Buddy Seat Spring Yoke

The parts manual shows two studs part #52603-36, identical for each side. The spring yoke set up that is on this example (red arrow) has the previous mentioned stud and has this long stud. This photo is from a spring yoke for sale online but the one I have is configured the same way.

Does anyone know the difference between the two and for which application? This will be used on a 1948 EL.

The long stud was introduced along with the optional dual exhaust in '54. It gets the spring out over the pipe.
