  • Is there a rear axle chart that anyone is aware of?

I'm building a swap meet special for a friend (beware what you agree to do while drinking) and the rear wheel is aftermarket. I have a couple of rear axles that are stock and seem like they come from the 5/8" era but measure out slightly larger when I put the calipers to them, slightly larger than .625. Also one has a couple of shoulders on it. Just curious to know if there's a chart that documents changes as to what and when. Thanks

Rear axles that are stepped are for star hubs. Later wheels usually have a axle that is straight 5/8" for most of their length. Jerry

Swing arm axles are longer than rigid frame axles.
