  • Steering Head Lock

Once the lock is installed, there is need to close off the hole in the front of the steering head that the piston was inserted through. My lock kit came with a little "saucer" similar to an automotive freeze plug for that purpose. At the risk of sounding OCD, is that installed with the convex side facing out, or in? And is it forced in from the outside, or popped through somehow from inside the neck? Thanks!

It is installed just like a freeze plug, from the front, convex out, a tap with a flat drift to expand and set it in place. There is a shoulder in the hole it seats against.

As I suspected, but thanks for confirming, Robbie.

If you need any more good older auto supply stores and McMaster-Carr have them . They are called Welch plugs.
