  • Fork Leg drain plugs

Reassembling my 65 FL fork legs, and discovered I need to chase the hole threads for the drain plugs, 45830-48. Seems like the hole is either 3/8 - 24, or a -27 "pipe" thread, but I'm not good enough with a thread pitch gauge to be sure. The parts catalog just calls them "drain plug", and I can't find anything in Palmer about that drain hole size. Anybody know ???

I got some plugs for my '51FL from V-twin. They are 1/8 NPT which is a standard tapered pipe thread. You shouldn't have any trouble chasing the existing threads. Coat the tap with lots of grease and that will capture any chips that the tap may cut.

Thanks! Confirmed I had the correct tap, and it worked out just fine.
