Looking for "thē" Factory Parts book/catalog for a '48 FL, but there are so many publications out there & I've never seen a "real" one. I don't want to drop $50 to $150 for the wrong one!? I've seen one put out by HD called "Parts Catalog, FL Models, 1941 to 1984". Seems like that should/could/would be the one, but could use some schooling. Would appreciate any help thanks!

DO NOT buy the '41-'84 catalog. It is full of incorrect info for your '48 due to parts being updated and changed over the years .H-D published a catalog in '48 which would be the best if you are trying to be correct. The best catalogs are always the ones closes to your model year. H-D was often changing a part but listing it for retrofit back to certain years even though such a part never yet existed when the bike was built. It all depends on how accurate you want to be.
Originals and reprints are on eBay all the time.Robbie Knight Amca #2736

What parts are you most concerned with? Bruce Palmer's books are very helpful, and informative about the milestone year of 1948 and that information can give you the direction to pursue more detail. I have a '48FL that I built from parts about 15 years ago and Bruce's book was instrumental in helping me get it very correct, and genuine (or as much as my wallet would take). . . There can be a big difference between correct, and genuine/correct.Last edited by exeric; 07-30-2021, 02:42 PM.Eric Smith
