  • Jubilee Horn Mount

I’ve been trying to figure out if a 56 FLH should have the metal power pack horn mount or the reinforced rubber mount. My Palmer book makes no mention, an original paint 56 on YouTube shows rubber but the K Model website says rubber wasn’t available until 1958 (at least for Sportster models). Can someone clarify this? Thank you.

Should be steel. The rubber mount does not appear in the '56 or '57 parts books, it first appears in the '58 parts book (with a -54 number assigned to it, a common thing when the part is a retrofit upgrade). Just as telling is it does not appear in the price lists, a great way to actually see if it existed. If it has no price assigned, it isn't yet in existence.

That makes sense and corresponds with the K Model site. My early parts book doesn’t show rubber and the metal bracket is attached to the power pack. My later shows the rubber with a -54 number and is shown separate. Usually if something is improved they add a letter after the number but not in this case. I riveted the metal bracket to the horn and adjustment became a little more sensitive to get right. I guess the rubber lets it vibrate a bit better. Thanks
