I've had a couple of old Harley's before, but never kept them long enough to really do much work on them. Now I have a '57 FLH that I'm determined to get running and road worthy.
My first question is regarding the gas tanks. It looks to me that those studs toward the rear of the tanks are 5/16 - 24. But when I try to put a die on it to clean up the threads, it only goes on a half a turn. I found one nut in the box that looks like it's the right size and has 24 TPI, but it also won't go on.
Are those studs a different size and pitch?
