What my painters told, me, Shin,...

...Was that "Hi-Fi" colors were sprayed over a silver "pearl".

So yours sounds good to me.

(If the striping on the tanks is right, of course!)

here we are, the left tank paint is very original to me but right one. as you can see there is some bond underneath so it must be an old repaint. also. the color is slightly different. just wonder ..any 65 without white stripe? if no, these tanks are repainted..,,,right? tks Shin 2021-02-08 11.26 (1).jpeg2021-02-08 11.26 (2).jpeg2021-02-08 11.26.jpeg2021-02-08 11.27.jpeg

I agree with Cotten, silver base layer then the blue.

I would say they have been repainted. At least the tanks have been redone.

I don't think solid colors were an option for 65, meaning your tanks are repainted.

                What about police bikes, VPH-D?

There's always exceptions to the rule, but body filler seems like the disqualification this time, for the tanks anyway.

It was a very nice re-paint, Shin!

If you have access to a paint thickness gauge vintage original paint on H-D should be about 2-3 mil. I have measured many and that is about the average.

                    Cotten,
As I'm sure you know, silver and birch white solid colors were available for Police order. Exceptions certainly exist, and I believe they were more common in the 40s thru the 60s. I saw virtually
no variation in the bikes I sold in the later 70s and 80s.
