As a long time V-twin & Paughco dealer. I will say that as mentioned, there are a couple fitment issues with the Paughco primary but the Vtwin is flimsy with way more problems compared to Paughco.

I agree. I got bored one day and reworked my Paughco inner with new rear upper and lower mounting tabs, added a drain fitting, made a chain splash guard and “dimpled” the breather clearance hole. Even moved the gearbox opening 0.200” forward. Does not have some of the stamped in features correct for the model year, but lines up nice with an OEM outer and made in USA. IMG_0546.jpeg

That is nice work, 51BT. I reworked the OEM inner primary for my '51 last year and it was a trial. Your work looks fantastic.

Eric, thank you for the compliment! I’m new to the club and need to post an introduction, so hopefully I get that done soon. Regardless, like other members, I love working on vintage bikes and preserving the wonderful history.

I knew I had a few pictures of the inner primary I worked on. It must have done chopper duty to be so cracked up. Obviously important to use that stress ring, and cork gasket the H-D engineers designed. Your repairs and mods are much nicer than mine, 51BT.

Looks good to me. That was some pretty rough damage. A bit more time working on to your repairs and it will be looking great.

I used the Carl's Cycle Supply inner primary on my '40 flathead build and am very happy with it. My bike has a belt primary and an original outer cover. You can see it near the bottom of the catalog online. http://www.carlscyclesupply.com/Carl...%20Catalog.pdf You can also call Carl and chat with him about it.
